OPI It's My Year

Happy Friday everyone! I mentioned the other day that I was going back to basics as I have recently been shopping my existing stash. I recently picked OPI It's My Year out of the OPI drawer; I forgot how amazing this polish is.

It's My Year is pretty unique. It's a purple shimmer polish with strong bronze/gold shimmer mixed in. Formula was easy to work with. The first coat looked pretty sheer but with three coats it was fully opaque with no bald spots. Also, I should mention that these photos were taken on the fourth day of wear! I barely had any tip wear, as you can see. This mani was topped with a coat of Seche Vite.

This was from the Miss Universe collection in 2011. OPI also has Rally Pretty Pink, which is the pink version of this polish. I have both. I felt they were unique enough to justify owning both versions....

I hope that everyone has a good weekend! It's supposed to be in the 90's in New York this weekend. Tonight I'm headed out with my bestie to watch Magic Mike and gossip about all the nail polish/Lynnderella drama lol  :0)

The Hungry Asian - Sneeze Breeze

Good Morning! I'm sure some of you noticed, but I completely changed my blog again. This is the 4th time in less than a year, but I realized that the background was pretty distracting. I went plain jane but I think it is easier to read. I get bored very easily - I must change the background on my phone at least once a week.

Today I have another indie for you. This one is from Kae at The Hungry Asian. I purchased two of her minis and they are both drop dead gorgeous. Before I get to the polish, can we check out the amazing packaging?

I was so impressed with the amount of time and effort spent on the packaging. I know it's a little thing, but the little things count. This alone made me feel like my purchase was appreciated.

Now, onto the polish. Her Etsy store describes Sneeze Breeze as matte black and blue glitter in a clear base. It does have a metallic look to it at times and the blue looks to be two different shades (upon removal, I noticed some of the glitter was silver). Application was easy, but I did let it dry completely during after each coat. I used three coats on it's own for the photos below and topped it off with Seche Vite.

I'm loving this polish! You can visit The Hungry Asian on Etsy, she does have a few left in stock. I'm impressed with her creations and her pricing is fair and affordable. The mini I purchased was $4.50, and the large size bottle is $9.25. Shipping was affordable and fast. Once I'm off my no-buy, I plan on picking up a few others.

Twinsie Tuesday - Favorite Polish Brand (and China Glaze 2Nite)

Good Morning everyone! Today we have another Twinsie Tuesday post, the topic being our favorite nail polish brand. When I think of my favorite nail polish brands a few come to mind. Those are China Glaze, Color Club and OPI. For whatever reason, I haven't been posting many of those brands lately but I've felt the need to get back to basics lately so I'm reaching for some of my oldies. Picking a favorite brand wasn't easy, at all. There are so many good brands that deserve recognition.

When it comes to collections and colors, I really enjoy what China Glaze has to offer. Their cremes are perfection, their holos are holo, their glitters are gorgeous and their neons are actually neon. As far as formula, out of all the bottles that I own (est 120-150) only a small handful aren't all that fantastic. Even with the poor formulas on these select few their color pay off in the end is amazing (ex: Atlantis which chips off like crazy and Flip Flop Fantasy which is an easy three coater for me on a good day). They are also easily accessible (Sally's, Ulta, online) and affordable.

I figured I had to pull out the big guns for this post and reach for one of my favorite HTF China Glaze polishes, so I chose 2Nite from the OMG collection. 2Nite is a periwinkle blue with a strong linear holo finish. As with all holos, this one does chip easily so you can expect a chip or two within a day or so. For the photos below I used 2 coats of 2Nite and a coat of Seche Vite.

[WARNING : PIC HEAVY. For whatever reason, I'm unable to resize anything after the first pic. Enjoy!]

This polish is la la lovely! I had such a hard time picking a favorite since there are so many fantastic brands available and I thought about doing a skittle mani with all different brands lol. In the end, I went with my gut and picked China Glaze.

Ozotic 506 topped with Ozotic Elyrta 528

Good Morning! I hope everyone had a good weekend and let's hope for a good start to the work week. My boyfriend and I took a trip down to Seaside Heights on Saturday. I used to be a big Jersey Shore fan, but sometime last season I lost interest and stopped watching religiously. As we parked on Saturday we heard people yelling. We saw Vinny, Paulie D, Snooki, Sammi and Deena all leave the shore house in a time frame of about 2 minutes. I just thought it was really cool and that I would share LOL. I do have photos but they are from across the street and they aren't that great.

Anyways, back to polish. Remember Ozotic 506 from this past Twinsie Tuesday post? I topped it with one of the other fantastic Ozotic polishes, Elyrta 528. I had seen this combo on a few blogs and was dying to try it. Now that I have, I don't know if I will ever be able to wear these polishes on their own. They look like they were made for each other.

The photos below show 1 coat of black, 2 coats of Ozotic 506, 2 coats of Ozotic 528 and a coat of Seche Vite....

[WARNING : PHOTO HEAVY!]

Multi-chrome polish and multi-chrome glitter? Yes please!

Jessica Iridescent Eye

Happppy Friday! It's my absolute favorite day of the work week lol. I'm so ready for this weekend, it's not even funny. In addition to it being almost 100 degrees in NY the last two days I'm ready to really relax.

Today I have swatches of Jessica Iridescent Eye for you. I'm pretty sure everyone is pretty familiar with this one by now. This is another dupe for Chanel Peridot. I'm happy that we're able to get such great dupes of some of the higher end brands. I wish someone would dupe Chanel Ciel Du Nuit....

The photos below show two coats of Iridescent Eye and a coat of Seche Vite. I picked this up from Ninja Polish for $6.00.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Twinsie Tuesday - Duochrome Polish (Ozotic 506)

Good Morning! Today is my 250th post! Thank you to everyone who has stuck around so far.
Of course, since it's Tuesday we have another Twinsie Tuesday post today. This week's theme was a duochrome or a metallic polish. I'm not big on metallics, since most of the ones I own tend to leave brush strokes. I had to pick a duochrome polish from one of my favorite makers....OZOTIC! I don't think anyone does duochromes or multichromes quite like Ozotic.

Ozotic 506 is from the soon to be discontinued multichrome line. The color shift changes from blue to purple, and at certain angles there is a slight copper feel to it. I layered two coats of 506 over a coat of Sinful Colors black. I topped it all off with some Seche Vite....

My pictures really don't do this polish justice. I want to paint my car with this!

I'm pretty sure I've read that Australia is now out of Ozotic polishes and the US suppliers are on their last batch, so grab them while you can if you are interested!
I added something special to this and planned on sharing it along with this post today, but my photo editor on my computer won't open and it's too late to try and fix it. I don't edit my photos other than cropping, but nobody wants to see all the background junk lol.

Don't forget to check out all of the other Twinsies!

Lynnderella Nosegay

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a good weekend. I had a super productive Sunday. We went out to dinner for Father's Day, I gave my dog a hair cut, cleaned my bird's cage and scrubbed every inch of my car until it was sparkling like new.....but broke three nails while in the process. :::womp womp:::  Today I have a special mani for you, it's another Lynnderella. I realized that the wish lists are going to be opening again soon and I still have a few sitting in my untrieds. I'm supposed to be on a strict no buy, but once I see the new Lynnderella collection I may have to lift it temporarily.

Nosegay is one of my favorite Lynnderellas. I looked at quite a few different bases and wound up picking Essie's St Lucia Lilac because it was closest to the base color in Nosegay. I used 2 coats of St Lucia Lilac and a coat of Nosegay. The formula on this was excellent and glitter placement was super easy due to how dense the glitter is in the polish. WIN!

My pictures may look a little repetitive, but I couldn't cut any so here we go.....

If you are unsure about this one, I'd definitely say it's a go! I do find that some of my Lynnderella manicures don't look 'fresh' after a day. I do find that some of them chip very easily. Nosegay wore like iron for me. I wore this during my weekend getaway to Washington DC, and from Thursday night to Sunday evening I had not one chip. Double WIN!

Layla Mermaid Spell

Good Morning! Did anyone else watch Teen Mom last night? I love my reality tv, and this is one of my favorite shows (as well as RHoNJ). Today I have another Layla polish for you - this one is Mermaid Spell.

Mermaid Spell is a light blue holographic polish. This polish is even more holographic in person. These Layla polishes are pretty amazing. This was three coats and a coat of Seche Vite.

Simply amazing!

Twinsie Tuesday - Half Moon Mani

Good Morning! Today's Twinsie Tuesday theme was a half moon mani using a neon and a pastel polish. I haven't had any prior experience with a half moon mani, and you will clearly see why. I can only apologize ahead of time for the mess that you are about to see. Everything about these manis is.....a hot mess.

They say humour lightens the mood.....

This is how I envision their torture from the attempts of a half moon mani.

I wanted to take a photo of the polishes I used and as I took their photo I thought about what they would say if they could talk, so this is what I came up with (I'm not insane, I swear lol)

Before I go any further, I just want to explain the mess. These were both done freehand. I was missing the little guides, and I tried to clean up some of the mess which in turn made it worse. My cuticles are a wreck and everything looks terrible. If this wasn't a TT theme I would have dumped these photos in the trash.

Attempt # 1:
Color Club Twiggie and Color Club Pink Rush

Pink Rush didn't photograph color accurate, at all. It's a bright neon pink, and here it looks very red toned. I tried with two different cameras and I still couldn't get these color accurate. I tried to draw a black line to even out some of my lines but then I thought I might be cheating and didn't want to do that to my twinsies. My bottle of Twiggie seemed to be a little streaky and watery, and Pink Rush also seemed much more watery than I recall. I should have rolled them to mix them prior to using them, which may have made this easier.

It reminded me of watermelon, so before I took it off I messed with it even further.....

Attempt # 2:
China Glaze Bahamian Escape and China Glaze Pool Party

This is all wrong. Pool Party is also a hot pink, and photographed terribly. I used three lumpy coats for Pool Party and two coats for Bahamian Escape, which was really beautiful on it's own.

So again I apologize for the mess that was placed in front of your eyes this week. Next week we have an easy theme that I'm looking forward to.
Don't forget to check the other ladies out! I'm sure they did a heck of a lot better than I did!

Twinsie Tuesday - Polish The Color of Our Rooms! (Zoya Charisma)

Can you believe it's another Twinsie Tuesday already? Geeeesh! The weeks fly by. The theme for this week was a polish that's the same color as our room. Now that's an easy one. For a while I was obsessed with all things magenta. Believe it or not, my walls are magenta as well as a ton of other things within my room. I figured while I'm not married with no children I might as well do what I want (I pretty much always use this excuse, I'm thinking I may never have kids or get married lol).  I had a bunch of magenta/fuchsia nail polishes to pick from but I wanted to go with an untried.

The Zoya website described Charisma as an 'ultra bright neon fluorescent magenta/red-toned purple cream.' With all polishes this color, it did dry matte and needed a coat of Out the Door to gain any shine.

Before I go any further I just want to apologize for these cruddy photos. Two cameras and two cell phone cameras later, I had the worst time trying to get this polish to photograph accurately. Also, since Seche Vite shrinks Zoya like crazy I've been using Out the Door top coat which I'm not liking much at all. I find Out the Door bubbles and I just find it very thin to begin with. It seems to photograph awful in all the photos I've used it for a well.

Ugh, without further ado......

Not color accurate

Not color accurate

Not color accurate

This is as close as I got, but my skintone is way off and my walls in the background look brown. What the hell Charisma?
Don't forget to check out the other Twinsies! I'm interested to see what everyone's room color is....
