Twinsie Tuesday - Cervical Cancer Awareness Mani

Good Morning! Today's post is in honor of Cervical Cancer Awareness.

As the month of January brings cervical cancer into focus, it’s time to increase public understanding of the disease, including its prevalence, approaches to screening and prevention, treatment options, and resources that offer updated cervical cancer information throughout the year.
Each year in the United States, more than 11,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer and approximately 4,000 die of the disease. While certain types of the human papillomavirus (HPV) are linked to cervical cancer, vaccines such as Gardasil® and Cervarix™ are designed to prevent infection with high-risk types of HPV and have the potential to greatly reduce the occurrence of cervical cancer.
For more information on cervical cancer, its treatment, and support, please visit Cancer Connect by clicking here.

The polishes used are Essie Where's My Chauffeur, Jordana White and the black nail art pen by Jordana.

Twinsie Tuesday - Black & White Mani

Good morning, friends! I'm back today with another Twinsie Tuesday post. This weeks challenge was a black and white manicure. Seems simple enough, but I spent the better part of the week trying to figure out what to do. I started with three awful coats of Essie Marshmallow and after major denting and chippage had to start over. I decided to keep it simple, and I really ended up loving the outcome.

I'm not sure what to call this, other than random freestyle nail art. I wasn't going to a zebra look, I just wanted lines coming from each side of the nail. I started with two coats of Jordana White (much easier than Essie Marshmallow!) and just went and did a couple of random black stripes with a nail art polish. I'm pretty proud, especially for this being nail art lol.

Sorry for the dry cuticles. The weather in NY has been pretty cold (with the exception of today, where we hit 62 degrees) and the winter weather wrecks havoc on my skin despite slathering on lotion all day long.

Twinsie Tuesday - Patriotic Mani

Morning! It's another Twinsie Tuesday. Today's theme is a patriotic mani. I had my weeks messed up and almost painted and posted the wrong mani for today. Thankfully Anna saved me from doing so when she mentioned something about her patriotic mani last night. (Thanks again Anna!) So, long story short. It's after 12:30am and I had to cheat. I went out to dinner straight from work and came home late and didn't have time to start fresh, so I went right over my existing manicure of China Glaze Sea Spray.

My base color is two coats of China Glaze Sea Spray. I got out your average sewing needle and made dots using Bettina Glamour Chic, Jordana White and China Glaze Calypso Blue. I topped everything off with a coat of China Glaze Fairy dust to represent the stars on our flag. I also had to nubbinize this past weekend :::sigh:::

I thought I was going to hate this and only planned on doing the 4 nails that I photograph, but I ended up loving it and now I'm sporting a full mani with this. My dots aren't all the same color but it's late and I'm tired, so I'm going to use that as my excuse lol.

I hope that everyone has a fun and safe 4th of July!

Duri Icicle

Happy Wednesday!  Sorry for missing posts. I'm hoping everything will be back to normal asap. I haven't had a moment to really breathe, and I'm typing this up before I head to bed so I can schedule it for tomorrow morning. I worked 7-4:30 today then had to drive 90 minutes in bumper to bumper traffic (in the pouring rain) to pick up my boyfriend from the airport. It's 11:00 and I'm now catching Teen Mom 2. Does anyone else watch this??

Speaking of rain, we've had absolutely no snow in New York so far. The closest thing to snow I've seen is the ice encapsulating my car in the morning hours. I wanted a snow themed mani, so I chose Duri's Icicle to be my 'snow'. Icile is part of Duri's winter collection, based upon the new Girl With The Dragon Tattoo movie (which I'm excited to see) but I think it may be a re-release because my beauty supply store already had it in with the rest of their polishes.

Duri Icicle is a milky sheer polish, with gold/silver/iridescent shimmer. The formula of Icicle is extremely easy to work with, and I'm in love with the brush. It's pretty sheer, so I decided to layer it over Essie Marshmallow. Essie Marshmallow is a white jelly polish. It's my second time using it, and I really dislike the formula. I find it to be hard to work with and streaky, and it remains streaky even after 2 coats. It's thick, doesn't dry well, etc.

The photos below show 2 coats of Essie Marshmallow, 2 coats of Duri Icicle and a coat of Seche Vite. This mani was so thick (I blame Essie Marshmallow), that I couldn't wait to pick it off. The photos show two coats without polish.
Luckily, I have quite a few swatch photos left, so I don't have to post my pure nubbins just yet! lol
