Shimmer Polish - Tiffany & Jasmine

Good Morning! Today I have my last two Shimmer Polishes for you. They are Jasmine and Tiffany. Each one I try leaves me just as impressed as the one before. I can definitely say I'm a fan of Shimmer Polish and her creations.

Tiffany is made up of pale pink and pale baby blue glitter in a clear base. The formula was easy to work with and opaque in two coats. The glitter also lays flat when applied. When I pulled this out of the package it instantly reminded me of magical unicorns, for whatever reason. I think because it's so soft and girly. This may be my absolute favorite Shimmer Polish.

 

 

Next up is Jasmine. Jasmine is described as aquamarine, light blue and green glitter in a clear base. I also can eye spy some red and gold glitter in there as well. The formula on Jasmine, like Tiffany is easy to work with and opaque in two coats. Another gorgeous Shimmer Polish....

Twinsie Tuesday - New Years Inspired Mani (China Glaze - For Audrey)

Happy New Year to each and every one of you! I hope everyone has a fantastic 2013 filled with nothing but the absolute best (nail polish and cosmetics included). This week's TT theme is a New Years inspired mani. I'm cheating on this one and using a polish I wore a little over a week ago. Shh - don't tell anyone ;)

Pictured below is two coats of the famous For Audrey by China Glaze. The perfect Tiffany blue creme with pretty great formula. Application was easy but I did have quite a few chips within the 24-48 hour mark.

For my actual NYE mani I have on one of the new colors from the Zoya Lovely collection. I haven't finished swatching them all and testing the wear so I didn't want to show that one off just yet.

Hey all! I'm here with a late night post. Sorry for being a bad blogger lately. Sometimes I feel like I barely have time to paint my nails at night. I have to get better at my time management so that I can get back on track. I must have at least 30-40 mani pics, to the point I'm getting overwhelmed. I hope to get it all together sooner than later.

Anyway, here are some quick swatches of Zoya Zuza. Zoya's website describes Zuza as "Deep, saturated, oceanic turquoise with gold and silver metallic shimmer and a foil-like finish. A beachy, colorful, foil-like shade with the perfect balance between blue and green."  Everything about this just reminded me of a mermaid. The formula was easy to work with, and the pictures below are 2 coats of Zuza and a coat of Out the Door.

I like how this polish has just the slightest hint of yellow to it. I hope everyone has a good weekend!

Barielle Do Unto Others meets Buddha-ful flakies

Hello ladies! I know yesterday's post features Barielle's Do Unto Others, so I hope you liked it enough not to mind a continuation of that post.....because I didn't want to take my polish off lol. I change my polish every night before I go to sleep. It's very rare that I wear a polish for more than a day or so, because I have so many to get through and swatch. I hate swatching and removing polish just for photos, since I see it as wasteful so I only write on polishes I wear as a NOTD. Also, when I swatch I seem to rush and that comes through in my photos.

Since I was so happy with this polish I decided to add a coat of Barielle's Buddha-ful on top of it. I think by now most people have seen Buddha-ful and even this combination. I really like Buddha-ful, but on it's own I needed 3 to 4 coats to really get it opaque (next time, I'm layering over a complimentary pink). I slapped 1 coat of Buddha-ful over my 2 coats of Do Unto Others and this is what I got.....

I got a combination I really liked.Buddha-ful made the base color have a more milky tint to it, so I don't think you can layer this over just any color. As much as I want to put it over an emerald green, I'm going to have to resist lol.

Barielle Do Unto Others

Happy Friday!! It's my favorite day of the work week lol. Today's polish is another Barielle. Each time I try another one of my Barielle polishes I keep wanting more! I think they do amazing cremes. I know a lot of people don't like cremes, but next to holos they are my favorite.

Barielle Do Unto Others is from their Karma collection. This is a bright aqua. Even though I have a ton of aqua/teal polishes this really stands out. This was hard to photograph (as you will see) but it's such an eye popping color. I had absolutely no issues with the formula as this glided on nicely and evenly. It's extremely opaque, but I did two coats anyway. If I was careful, or wearing this on my toes I could probably get away with one coat.

Essie 'Mint Candy Apple'

Good morning! My swatches for today are Essie's 'Mint Candy Apple'. I picked this one up while I was in Miami, but I had so many close calls for purchasing it before. I'm finally glad I did. During my dusty hunts I would ALWAYS pick this one up hoping it just might be from the Northfork Collection.

'Mint Candy Apple' is from the Winter 2009 collection but I'm pretty sure it's now part of their core collection as I still see it in stock at Ulta. It's a creme seafoam green with blue undertones. It's actually a little more blue than I expected and leans more aqua than green. I actually like this a lot more than I expected to.

Formula was decent. It was more watery than I would have liked but not terrible to work with. The first coat went on kind of streaky but evened out with the second.

NYX Girls 'Algae' with 'Aqua Glitter' and 'Maven'

A few weeks ago I picked up two NYX Girl glitter polishes at XSRE in Lawrence, NY (they have 3 NY locations and 1 in NJ). I found 'Aqua Glitter' and 'Maven'. The bases are close in color but the glitter itself is different enough to own both.

The photos below are one coat of 'Aqua Glitter' and 'Maven' over my existing 'Algae' mani, which I thought would be the perfect base. Alone 'Aqua Glitter' and 'Maven' are a little to sheer for my liking.

Since I started this blog I've been painting my nails every day and taking photos, and making sure I'm trying to update the posts every other day. I figured a great way to swatch more would be to use the layering polishes I have over existing manis. So here we go....

I purchased NYX Girl's 'Algae' after seeing swatches on another blog and falling in love. When I think of algae, I think of something gross and dirty. This color is beautiful. It's a teal polish which in my opinion leans more blue than green. It has a creme finish and it's really easy to work with.

I've read on other blogs that this is a dupe for Misa's 'Dirty Sexy Money' which I do not own but have wanted for quite some time. I don't own 'DSM' to do a swatch comparison, but this has definitely squashed the need for 'DSM' as far as I'm concerned.
