Twinsie Tuesday - TT Revisted Post

Good Morning! This week's challenge was basically up to us - we had to revisit a previous Twinsie Tuesday challenge. I went all the way back and chose from the first three choices, a polish from our favorite brand. I figured I would take it a step farther and show a favorite polish from that brand. For this theme I chose Essie Where's My Chauffeur. My best friend bought this for me for Christmas and I have already worn in a total of four times. I'm already worried about running out and contemplating a back up bottle. The swatch below shows two coats of Essie Where's My Chauffeur topped with Seche Vite. I apologize ahead of time for the extra dry fingers, nothing is cutting it lately (even pure lanolin...)

Twinsie Tuesday - Copy Cat Post # 2

Good morning! Today we have another Copy Cat post. The first time around I was paired up with Anna from Going to the Showing. She has amazing nail art skills. Due to arthritis/carpal tunnel of some sort that it taking over the joints in my fingers the last few days I was feeling less than skilled this week. I decided to go with something simple. I searched and searched through Anna's posts until I found a polish that I also owned. I did two coats of China Glaze Emerald Fitzgerald topped with Seche Vite. For whatever reason, I just don't like this polish on me. It looks fantastic on Anna, but on me I think it clashes a bit :::puts in purge pile:::

Just. Not. A. Fan.  I embrace my paleness at all times but I feel like this just makes me look uber washed out. It's much more dark teal than it is emerald. I wouldn't even consider it a true green. I've had it on since Sunday, but I'm blaming my laziness on that.

Twinsie Tuesday - Dot or Stripes Manicure

Good Morning! Today's Twinsie Tuesday theme is a dot or stripe manicure. It seems like such a simple concept, but I spent quite some time thinking out what I was going to do. I chose a base which I wanted to work with and then decided to go with dots - but I couldn't pair up the perfect accent color to go with the base. In the end I decided to stripe it up. I did some freehand (not like I needed to tell you that...) stripes using my Jordana Pop Art Nail Design polish in black over Orly Sapphire Silk (which is more green in person)....

Twinsie Tuesday - Cervical Cancer Awareness Mani

Misa Dirty Sexy Money and My Sunday-Funday Essie Haul

Good Morning! It's just another manic Monday, ugh! Why do the weekends always fly by but the work week takes it's time? Today I have a polish that sat in my untrieds for about 10 months, and now I can't understand why. I received this as a gift for my last birthday from by best friend.

Misa Dirty Sexy Money is described as a creamy turquoise-green. I fell head over heels in love with this. It's a tad dusty but I love that it leans more green than blue. Formula was excellent and it was completely opaque in two coats. I did find that I had a lot of tip wear within 24 hours. I've been having some top coat issues, so I'm not sure if I should attribute the chippage to Misa DSM or my top coat. Either way, I'm loving Dirty Sexy Money....

I've been on a HUGE Essie kick the past few weeks. Yesterday my best friend and I made our way around Brooklyn and Queens on a polish hunt, since I know that I can find Essie for a more competitive price than the $6 I pay at my local beauty supply.

Here's my haul....and I'm so excited to get through them!

I picked up Essie Boxer Shorts, Coat Azure, Mochachino, Who's the Boss?, Fear or Desire, She's Picture Perfect, No More Film, Cascade Cool, Head Mistress, Armed & Ready, Miss Fancy Pants, Stylenomics and Don't Sweater It. The OPI you see is Swimsuit Nailed It.

I know there are a couple of NY girls here....so here's a breakdown of where I've shopped and pricing which someone may find helpful...

I found them to be really extremely picked over (I've been here once before). On the phone they told me they had all collections up to the Stylenomics collection, but they had only Miss Fancy Pants. A bit of a let down if you have a specific list. I had a list of 10 from newer and older collections and could only get 3 here. They were that picked over. I doubt I will be back.

Fully stocked! Over the phone they told us Essie was $4, and then when we got there we were told they were sold only by the dozen. I'm not sure if they are cash only or not...

All four supply stores were missing Bikini So Teeny, Play Date, Go Overboard and the new Yogaga collection by Essie. I had to pay full retail for Boxer Shorts at Walgreens; I couldn't go home without it lol  :)



China Glaze DV8

Good Morning and happy Monday! I hope everyone had a good weekend. Today I've got one of the older, discontinued polishes from the OMG Collection by China Glaze. I missed out on these when they originally came out, but after seeing them at a salon and falling in love I ended up buying most of them on Ebay.

DV8 is a bright teal polish with holo! I love holo. The formula on this one was so-so, I had a bit of a hard time getting it to be 100% smooth. You can tell in some of my photos that it's not the smoothest even after top coat. The first time I wore this I was left unimpressed. Even this time, I'm not sure I'm in love. I love teals, but this teal didn't seem to work too great for my skintone. Outdoors in direct sunlight it definitely leans more blue than green as far as teals go. Please excuse the chip on my ring finger as well. My nails were growing so well with Nailtek 2 and they've started to split again :(

For the photos below I used two coats of DV8 and a coat of Seche Vite.

Twinsie Tuesday - Favorite Polish (China Glaze Atlantis!!!)

Good Morning! I can't tell you how relieved I was that this week the Twinsie Tuesday theme was an easy one lol. The theme for this Tuesday is our favorite polish. I own expensive polishes and I own cheap polishes. This cheap(er) gem has a permanent home in my collection, and two back up bottles.

China Glaze Atlantis is my favorite polish. Teal jelly base, holographic glitter....what more can a girl ask for in appearance? This polish dances in the light like nothing I've ever seen before. While I hands down love love love this polish, the formula is hands down a-w-f-u-l! It's one of those polishes that doesn't just chip, you lose the entire nail. I wore this last week. I painted my nails around midnight and went to bed. I woke up the next morning, showered and started my drive to work. By 8:15am I noticed I was already missing an entire nail (luckily, I found it on the floor in my car and stuck it back on lol). By 9:30 I was missing a second. The thing that saves this polish is layering it.

For the photos I wanted to keep this polish in it's original unlayered state. I used three thin coats of Atlantis and a coat of Seche Vite.

If you don't already own Atlantis, what are you waiting for?!?!

A England St George and Comparison Swatches

Hey all! Sorry for falling off the radar for a few days. I had a 50+ hour work week and then went to a concert in Manhattan straight from work on Friday night that went until after 4am. By the time we got to the car, got dinner/breakfast and I got home it was around 6am-7am and I can't handle that much fun in one night lol. I've been in a funk and my nails are in the worst shape they've been in months, so I'm lacking any serious motivation lately (these swatches are from last week, I don't even want to show my nails this week!)

I'm back (late) tonight with another polish from the A England The Legends collection. St George is one of the polishes I couldn't wait to get my hands on. I was going to try and save this polish for much later in my A England posts, but I couldn't wait. St George is an amazing teal holo. The color is a deep saturated dark teal but the holographic effect is pretty subtle (much, much less than the effect in Princess Sabra). Even in direct sunlight the holo is still subtle. Formula on this is amazing, and it could easily be a one coater. If you love teal, holos and A England pick this one up. It definitely doesn't disappoint.

Now for the first of two comparisons. I know that these are NO match, but these are my teal holos. I picked China Glaze DV8 and China Glaze Techno Teal, since in my mind these were a "similar teal". I honestly thought they would be much closer than they are. St George makes these two look light blue....

Yeah, so...no match here, whatsoever. Putting these swatches up made me cringe a little, but at least it will answer any questions in regards to whether or not these are even close in color.

The final comparison is A England St George vs OPI Cuckoo for This Color. I know OPI CFTC has no holo, but the color is what I'm trying to show. This is the closest teal in my collection.

As you can tell, St George and Cuckoo for This Color are pretty close as far as base color goes. If I had to pick only one, hands down it would be St. George. (China Glaze Emerald Fitzgerald is also a dupe for OPI Cuckoo for This Color)

If you are planning on purchasing any from the new A England The Legends collection, I would push this one to the top of your list. I am half way through the collection, so I can't say it's the absolute best just yet but it's amazing. A England can be purchased from Llarowe for $12.00.

Ozotic Mish Mash 532

Quickie post for today. It's already late, and I've wasted an hour of my life watching Road Rules Battle of the Exes tonight (did anyone else watch? I was a little disappointed). Today's post is all about one of the new Ozotic polish from their Mish Mash collection. All of the Mish Mash polishes have a multi-chrome/holographic finish to them. The one I have photos of today is Mish Mash 532.

Ozotic Mish Mash 532 is another chameleon. I didn't expect the holo/multi-chrome shift to be so strong, but it was insanely strong. How does Ozotic do it? And how come none of the US companies can do this? This polish looked different in all different types of lighting and all angles. The color shift mainly goes between a light teal/aqua and purple, and the holographic finish shifts between purple and bright teal. In some lighting this looked only holographic, other lighting only multi-chrome, and other lighting it showed both finishes. Formula was so easy to work with. This is definitely one of my top polishes.

The photos below show 2 coats of Ozotic Mish Mash 532 over 1 coat of Sinful Colors Black. Everything was topped off with a coat of Seche Vite. You can order this beauty from Llarowe for $17.50.

Lynnderella Connect The Dots

Happy Sunday. Today I have another Lynderella polish for you. This is the polish that started my Lynnderella obsession, Connect The Dots. I HAD to have this polish, no matter what it took.

Connect The Dots is black and white hex, square and bar glitter in a slightly shimmery base. Isn't it gorgeous? Formula is easy to work with and the glitter goes in place with ease. I used 1 coat of Connect The Dots over Color Club Age of the Aquarius. I really love the labels on the bottles too, I know they are simple but they really draw me in.
